We rounded 2021 off by welcoming two brilliant new faces to the Sparkol team 🥳
In this blog we meet Lorraine and Elain and learn about their proudest moments, biggest lessons learned and most importantly, what they'd take to a desert island... 🏝
Lorraine is our new Head of Product, determining our product strategy and helping drive Sparkol forwards. She loves nothing more than talking with our customers to determine how we can help them make better video content.
We asked these six questions to find out what makes Lorraine tick 👇
Q1: What drew you to Sparkol and what are you most excited to work on?
A1: Video has become ubiquitous in our lives. We're creating and consuming more video than ever before. Video helps us learn, create connections and better enjoy our free time. I'm excited to help people create engaging video content more easily.
Q2: What are you most proud of (professionally or personally)?
A2: Whilst I believe I've achieved some noticeable things professionally such as helping to build a digital agency which was purchased and being selected to lead a company into North America, I am most proud of what my co-workers have said about me. As they say, what counts in the end is how you are as a friend.
Q3: What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever been given?
A3: Focus on the impact.
Q4: If you could only take 5 things to a desert island what would they be?
A4:
All the toys…
Surfboard
Paddleboard
Snorkel gear
Kayak
...and a speedboat to get supplies and friends! 😊
Q5: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
A5: Rachel McAdams. I’ve watched The Notebook a ridiculous amount of times and cried every time. Ryan Gosling would be my love interest.
Q6: If you could live anywhere in the world where would you go?
A6: I’ve only just got back to the UK after 20 years away so I’m not keen to jet away just yet. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to some amazing places and live in both Sydney (19 years) and LA (1 year). Because of this I haven’t spent much time in Europe yet so Italy is next on the list. I’m currently trying to learn some Italian. Wish me luck!
We've also welcomed Elain to our finance team! Elaine will be supporting the team while one of our colleagues is on maternity leave and it's awesome to have her insights, skills and experience on board.
We caught up with Elain to dive a little deeper 👇
Q1: What drew you to Sparkol and what are you most excited to work on?
A1: I’ve never worked for a SaaS company nor had a temporary role before. I thought the maternity leave cover was the perfect amount of time to gain experience in an industry that I’m unfamiliar with and Sparkol stood out because of how passionate Will (Sparkol's CFO) and Zoe (Sparkol's CEO) were about the company and the people in the interviews.
Q2: What are you most proud of (personally or professionally)?
A2: Professionally I’m proud of becoming a qualified accountant. Personally I’m proud of myself for trying new things/experiences.
Q3: What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever been given?
A3: Don’t confuse aggression with assertiveness.
Q4: If you could only take 5 things to a desert island what would they be?
A4:
Harpoon
Ice cream
Saxophone
Volleyball (make my own Wilson)
Hammock
Q5: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
A5: Jack Black
Q6: If you could live anywhere in the world where would you go?
A6: Bali
