Our team is growing fast! Over the last year we've welcomed lots of new additions to team Sparkol, meeting incredible people who are not only talented in their professional fields, but have awesome stories to tell.
So, we thought you should get to know some of our new Sparkol-ers better! In this blog we chat to new-starters Alice and Tom about their proudest moments, biggest lessons learned and most importantly, what they'd take to a desert island... 🏝
Meet Alice Taylor 
Alice has recently joined us as a Marketing Executive to focus on our community communications (look out for new emails from Alice 👀) and support with our marketing activities.
We asked these six questions to find out what makes Alice tick 👇
Q1: What drew you to Sparkol and what are you most excited to work on?
A1: It's clear that Sparkol is a leader in animation technology and I was drawn to the innovative culture and drive the team have for helping people communicate better.
I'm most looking forward to getting stuck into Sparkol's email communications - I'm keen to ensure our messaging reflects our values and that we're providing as much help and support to our community as possible.
Q2: What are you most proud of (professionally or personally)?
A1: Professionally, it was leading on the digital communication for the city-wide 'Bristol Together' campaign. This was all about helping people safely reconnect in the city after the COVID-19 lockdowns lifted.
We launched an initiative called 'Hearts in Parks' where we painted big hearts on the city's green spaces to encourage meeting friends and family at a safe distance.
Q3: What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever been given?
A3: Try to learn something new everyday - it still sticks with me, especially when starting a new job!
Q4: If you could only take 5 things to a desert island what would they be?
A4: An Oowee vegan takeaway (a true Bristol gem), a snorkel, sun cream #safetyfirst, a sketch book (I started my career as an Illustrator) and an 80s bangers playlist.
Q5: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
I want to say Kate Winslet - not because we look alike, just because she's an incredible actress and she'd make the film a hit. Who doesn't love Titanic!?
Q6: If you could live anywhere in the world where would you go?
A6: New Zealand - I’ve always wanted to explore it so why not take the opportunity if I could!
Meet Tom Milner 
We've also welcomed Tom to our development team! We're really excited to have him on board to help us continually improve and develop our animation tools like VideoScribe.
Q1: What drew you to Sparkol and what are you most excited to work on?
A1: After becoming a dad for the second time, I was really drawn to Sparkol's friendly, flexible and understanding culture.
Q2: What are you most proud of (personally or professionally)?
A2: My children (boring answer but true 💗), other than that probably something archery related.
Q3: What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever been given?
A4: Find something that interests you and get good at it.
Q4: If you could only take 5 things to a desert island what would they be?
A4: Aside from practical survival things, probably an mp3 player (or some way of listening to music), camera, bow and arrows, guitar and photos of loved ones.
Q5: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
A5: Clive Standen (I was mistaken for him a few times when Vikings Came out)
