How 5 hospitality & leisure brands are using video to connect with customers during COVID-19

The hospitality and leisure industries are really suffering from Covid restrictions. Many facilities have been forced to close for months on end. In these uncertain economic times it’s often tempting to slash marketing budgets and effectively go dark. However, past recessions and disasters have shown us that the companies that continued to build brand awareness and engagement with their customers during the difficult period bounced back much quicker than those who didn’t.

Even if your venues are currently closed your sites could still be an integral part of the community. Could you be a vaccination centre? Or offer free rooms for healthcare workers for example? If you’re able to pitch in and help in this time of disaster you could cement your place in your customers’ hearts.

Whether you’re closed or open with restrictions, video presents a fantastic opportunity to keep your customers informed, safe and engaged.

Using video to keep your guests safe

If you are open, you could use video to support contactless check in, to welcome guests and provide much of the usual information a member of staff might give.

Video is also the perfect way to share your updated COVID-19 safety measures. Princess Cruises used this video to reassure passengers of every precaution in place to keep them safe. Including touchless entry via wearables, testing and increased sanitization:

Disney also chose video to showcase the measures put in place across its parks to limit the transmission of disease.

Showing solidarity and hope

Unfortunately, at certain times in certain places it’s just not possible for hospitality venues to be open at all. Visit Las Vegas created a video showing the empty Vegas strip promising they’ll be ready for when we can travel again. But reminding us all that our health and safety is more important than anything.

Skyskanner’s powerful video promises we will get through this together.  And asks us to dream where we’ll go once it’s over.

Ready to welcome guests again

And for the parts of the world that are able to reopen, get ready to spread some cheer and welcome your guests back. The Four Season’s Maui released this uplifting video showing them preparing to welcome back their first guests.

Video has the power to bring people together, no matter their physical distance. It’s the perfect medium to show solidarity, care and hope to your customers.
